The Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1969. The Department offers B. Sc. Honours & B. Sc. General course. The department has a strength of 3 experienced faculty members (Members with Ph.D. 1, M. Phil 2, Pursuing Ph.D. 1). The department has an association named as Gargaon College Mathematical Society.

Mission of the Department

To advocate mathematical science in local community in practical cases.
To discover, mentor and nurture mathematically inclined students and help them to grow intellectually.
The mission of the mathematics department is to encourage students to learn mathematics and mathematical application . Moreover ,the department will contribute to the development of students as mathematical thinkers , enabling them to become life long learners.
The department also take care of the professional development of the faculties. It focuses on continuous growth of faculties as teachers and scholars and also enhance every student to form a scholar on their own.

Vision of the Department

Imparting of quality mathematics education and the inculcating the spirit of higher studies in mathematics.
To achieve the skill in generating and propagating knowledge in Mathematics. The Department is committed to provide knowledge that helps the students to be a competent user of mathematics and understand the importance of mathematics in other disciplines.
Fostering students ability to logically, rationally and analytically solve complex maths.

Future Plan of the Department

To adopt blended mood of teaching which in turn helps us to make involve the students in smart learning process.
To take extra classes to focus on competitive exams related to the discipline, which will be further helpful for the students.

MATHEMATICA: The Name of the Wall Magazine of the department is "MATHEMATICA". It has been publishing since 2014 once in a year. It provides a platform for the students to express their literary creativity.
