Work Experience

Dr Rina Handique is the Vice-Principal of Gargaon College and the current Head of the Department of Department of Zoology, Gargaon College. She joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology in 1991. Dr Handique has completed several Refresher Courses in North East Hill University, Shillong and Dibrugarh University from 1997 to 2003. She completed a UGC sponsored project on “Feed formulation for the fingerlings of commercially important fish” in 1997-98. Dr Handique had presented various papers in National Seminars organized by the UGC, the significant ones being “Ornamental Fish in North -Eastern Region of India-Its Culture and Maintenance” held at D. H.S.K. College, Dibrugarh on 29-30 th , January, 2006 sponsored by UGC and “Environmental Issues in North East India; Past, Present and Challenges Ahead” organized by Gargaon College. Besides, Dr Handique has attended workshops on Internal Quality Assurance, Bioinforamtics and Tourism Potential under NAAC, Gargaon College and Dibrugarh University. In March, 2016, she completed a Short Term Course as part of Faculty Development on the theme “Knowledge Management-Challenges in Higher Education” organized by UGC-HRDC, Bangalore University, Bengaluru. Apart from the field of academics, Dr Handique has also been contributing in social development activities which includes duties of Judge in 17th National Children’s Science Congress (State level Congress), Assam, 2009, organized by ASTEC and NCSC, Sivasagar and supported by RVSP, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi, 12th -15th October, 2009; Judge in National Children’s Science Congress (District Level Congress) every year organized by NCSC Sivasagar; Executive member of North East Socio-Economic and Human Resource Development Wings (NESHURD); Life Member of Indian Red Cross Society.No.11577 of 2006-2007; Academic Advisor of Asom Jatiya Vidyalaya, Simaluguri and executive functions of various bodies of Gargaon College including General Secretary of Gargaon College Science Forum.
