The Department of Sociology was established in the year 1974. It is run by a group of well-qualified (2 M.Phil, 1 Ph.D. pursuing) and experienced faculty members. The department  offers Bachelor Degree (Major), Non-Major and Higher Secondary Courses. It has an association named as Study Circle under whose aegis various programmes and initiatives have been undertaken for the well-round development of the students of the department. The best practices of the Department  include use of smart class, audio-visual aids in teaching, publication of students' magazine, presence of a strong alumni participation and support.
